Woody Allen Pays Heartfelt Tribute to His Late Co-Star

Following the passing of the celebrated actress at 79 years old, the acclaimed director has published a lengthy tribute celebrating her career and their longstanding relationship.

Recalling a Remarkable Friendship

In a freshly written piece, Allen, 89, described their time together from their first introduction in 1969 amid rehearsals for his play Play It Again, Sam, spanning their half-decade relationship and the multiple projects they collaborated on.

“As time went on, I directed pictures for an single viewer, Diane Keaton,” Allen expressed. “I ignored a critic’s opinion of my work and was concerned exclusively with what she had to say about it.”

He further noted that she was “unlike anyone the earth has seen or is unlikely to ever see again,” and that “her face and laugh illuminated any room she walked into.”

Unexpected Death and Enduring Impressions

The actress died after falling ill at her home in Los Angeles. She had been away from the spotlight for a period of time, and a source close to her indicated that although no specific condition had been disclosed, her health had declined swiftly, with numerous of her close friends in the dark that she was suffering.

Her demise nonetheless was a shock even to her closest circle.
