Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial Fall Classic since the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Down 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, Canada," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

Springer has now connected for 23 total October home runs, placing him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I want up in that moment besides him with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.

Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
