The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The song showcases a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
