The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the song choice.

The intro uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second release released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will love its presence.

Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and excitement that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the original episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube.
