Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
