Arsenal's manager has expressed confidence that his team can persist in handling with injury setbacks following disclosing that star striker Kai Havertz will not return for the coming weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for German Star

Havertz has been sidelined since the summer after undergoing an operation on his knee. Originally slated to be available earlier in December, the manager stated the player encountered a problem when advancing his rehabilitation and was unable to move forward “the required stage.”

“We took lessons, and managed to assemble a team that is far more dependable and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

Tactical Decisions for Brentford Clash

This update creates a selection headache for Wednesday’s match against Brentford. The manager needs to decide between sticking with Mikel Merino, who scored as a makeshift striker on Sunday, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who featured briefly off the bench in the latter stages. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus is in contention after 11 months out.

Fitness Doubts Persist

More doubts involve defender William Saliba and attacker Leandro Trossard, who both missed the Chelsea match. As a result, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are expected to continue in the heart of the defence for the table-toppers.

The manager is convinced the substantial investment on new players ahead of this season has left Arsenal in a much stronger position to deal with such setbacks.

In response if a larger pool of players was benefiting their championship push, his response was positive. “Absolutely, because this season has been worse in some areas, and now what’s happening with the defence,” he added.

“Our previous experiences taught us that we have to use players in various roles, and they need to be prepared to adapt to new tasks if we want to compete at the highest level. And the instance of Mikel is probably the prime illustration.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Suffering Havertz

Commenting on the delay previously mentioned by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, the manager gave more insight. “He followed all protocols. He was unable to progress to the required step and now it appears like we have unlocked that.”

He shared his keenness to have him back. “We’re all desperate to have him. Honestly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I value highly for his contributions to the team, but his character, his attitude. I watch him struggle being outside.”
