Arsenal's goalkeeper Praises Squad Depth as Vital to Silverware Challenge

David Raya has declared that intense competition for starting positions is fueling Arsenal's exceptional performance, with the keeper believing that the team's roster under Mikel Arteta is so incredible that they can challenge for various titles this season.

Dominant Victories Highlight Arsenal's Strength

The North London club's latest 4-0 triumph over Atlético Madrid represented their sixth straight victory and 10th success in 12 matches. Having let in just three goals—a record low at this point in the team's legacy—they have secured a one-point lead at the Premier League summit and a flawless start in the Champions League after three outings.

Rotation and Versatility Key to Achievements

The goalkeeper has started in nearly every game, except for one Carabao Cup encounter, but Arteta has frequently changed the team following heavy spending on recruits. When asked about competing for several pieces of silverware, he said, "Yes, I believe so. Our squad strength is incredible. We have numerous options who can perform in two, three, or four roles."

For instance, against Atlético, Mikel Merino came on as a striker and can also play as a No 8 or No 10. That versatility is available to the manager, and it's being utilized to our advantage. It's looking very, very good, and that depth is crucial for us.

Competition Elevates Standards

The Spain international added, "That gives you an extra level in practice and games because if you slack off, your place is at risk instantly. It creates healthy competitiveness in sessions and on the pitch, which is vitally significant, and the whole squad accepts it."

Defensive Solidity a Collective Effort

Arsenal have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and the keeper has had to deal with a mere one attempt in their recent victories against three opponents.

"Everyone contributes from the forwards to the goalkeeper," he said. "Each player is committed, determined not to give anything away, and we aim to intercept the ball prior to it crossing the halfway line. By winning it back, we can launch a fast break. This is essential for the entire team to understand that way, and we're not allowing many chances, which is perfect."
